Solomon King
- Grammy Entrant 2026
- Honored by the City of Los Angeles
- Honored by the California State Legislature
- BMW “Living Legend” Award
- Featured on HBO’s True Blood
Solomon King’s road runs from the Detroit factories to the Venice Boardwalk to stages across the country and around the world. That road shows up in every song he writes. He’s a Los Angeles singer-songwriter who makes blues-rooted Americana, and he writes about working people and a country struggling with its own conscience.
Blood on the Streets
“Blood on the Streets…in the U.S.A.” (2026 Remix)
Grammy EntrantThis is his most direct statement yet. It’s a hard look at the violence and division running through American life: the headlines people have gotten numb to and the lives behind them. King doesn’t preach. Like the folk and blues singers who came before him, he reports what he sees and asks you to look at it too.
The song first came out earlier in 2026 as a live recording, with all the raw energy of The Chosen on stage. The response made it clear the message needed to reach further, so King went straight back into the studio. The 2026 Remix followed quickly. It’s a fuller, more polished version, with guest players from the West Coast blues scene and Nashville, made to carry the song to a much larger audience. At its center it’s still one man telling the truth about the country he loves.
Recognition
King has been honored for his contributions to the blues by both the City of Los Angeles and the California State Legislature, and he received the BMW “Living Legend” Award.
His debut album, Under the Sun (2009), put two songs, “Jack Me” and “Frankie & Johnnie,” into the first season of HBO’s True Blood. That introduced his music to millions of viewers. Under the Sun was a Grammy Entrant, as was his 2024 LP Return of the Folk Singer.
Over the years he has built a catalog with The Chosen, and each album comes from a different chapter of a life spent making music:
- Under the Sun
- Medicine
- Train
- Against the Current
- No. 5
- Hollywood Underground
- Return of the Folk Singer
Live, Relentlessly
More than anything, Solomon King is a live performer, and he doesn’t slow down. With the full band, Solomon King & The Chosen, he brings loud, rocking roadhouse blues. Solo, it’s just his voice, an acoustic guitar and songs stripped to the bone.
He has toured the Western U.S., Texas, Canada and Hawaii. These days you’ll find him in the blues clubs of South Central L.A., where the music still lives closest to its roots, and playing regularly on the Big Island of Hawaii. Whether it’s a packed club on a Saturday night, a house concert or an island stage, he plays every show like it matters.
The songs are how he tells people the truth, and the stage is where he does it.
