Echoes of rock, blues, soul and country greats reverberate throughout Solomon King’s extensive repertoire and he’s as likely to introduce a packed club to a long lost Hank Williams gem as he is one of his signature contemporary originals. Unpredictable but never afraid to shake things up, King has embarked on a tour that will take him from coast to coast and overseas before year’s end. “No bar too far, no hall too small,” could easily be the motto that describes how he and his band of accomplices (known as The Chosen) approach fulfilling their collective musical goal.
“If we can turn just one new fan on to the music that’s inspired us, whether it’s BB King, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf or Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson or Ernest Tubbs, we’ve taken one step closer to turning on the world—and we intend to keep at it ‘til that mission has been accomplished. As Dr John might say, we intend to perform some major brain salad surgery and put folks back in touch with the musical dynamite that’s been blowin’ our minds since we were first exposed to it. If you don’t believe that, come on down and let your eyes and ears be the judge.”
